Default Options for Rating scale in a matrix

Hi, I am a spanking new user of Checkbox and am in the process of entering my first real survey. I have a number of matrix questions which have a rating scale set of answers and I need to include a not applicable response as well as a 5 point rating scale. I have no problem creating the 5 point rating scale [although it would be nice to label all 5 points, I can live with the 3 which are provided [start, mid-point and end] but I really need a not applicable option. This is likely something simple but in my foray into this foreign territory of new software, somehow I am missing it. Can anyone please help me.

Agnes,

Thank you for our inquiry and welcome to Checkbox. The rating scale questions currently do not offer a N/A option. Since you would like to label all five points of the scale anyway, you might want to use the regular radio button questions. That would allow you to have labels for each option and an N/A option.

Default Options for rating scale in a matrix

I'm very sorry to hear that. Your suggestion would work fine [in fact I have some questions using that format] my problem emerges when I am using the matrix format which has a number of related questions with the same rating scale grouped together for a shorter survey and one that is easier for respondents to fill out. Are you sure I can't do this, it seems like a common format?

Agnes,

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear in my response. You can add a Radio Button column to a matrix.

Agnes,

Just in case you are still looking for an N/A option for rating scales, that feature will be part of Checkbox version 4.5 which will be released this spring.

Default matrix

This is good news as I will have an on-going need to have an NA option in a rating scale within a matrix and although changing to a radio button works its not as good as a rating scale would be.
