Default Question Titles

I am currently not using the Question Text or subtext in favor of the HTML item (I put in an HTML item with all of the question text and formatting and then put in a response item and comment item).

My issue is that I am now using a response summary at the end of the survey so I can email the respondents responses back to them, but I want to add at least a basic question with the response.

Is there a way that I can suppress the Question Text/Subtext on the question page, but utilize it on the survey response page?

I am having difficulty conceptualizing your survey structure. I would suggest contact the support team for further assistance on this issue.

An online ticket can be submitted http://www.prezzatech.com/support/helpdesk/ or you can contact the support team by phone at 1 617-715-9600.

To help you with what I am attempting to do, picture a page with three items on it: HTMP, Radio button, and multi line text.

I am using the HTML item to ask the question (so that I can use various formatting (bullets, numbers, and fonts). I am then putting in a radio button, for example purposes a Yes|No. I am not using the question Text or Subtext items since they are not formatable. I am then adding a multi line text box, and again not using the question Text or Subtext since they are not formatable.

The problem that I am running into is that when I post the survey summary at the end of the survey, the HTML items are not ported to the summary, just the Q&A.

What I would like to know is twofold:

1. Can I port the HTML to the summary?
2. If I can’t port the HTML to the summary, can I put some basic question information in the Question Text or Subtext, but suppress it on the question and expose it on the summary page?

As a note of clarity both the question text and sub text are formattable. Please refer to our training video on the style manager for a more detailed explanation http://www.prezzatech.com/training/ . Furthermore both of these inputs will accept HTML.

It is not possible to include HTML items in a report; only answerable questions are considered responses.

As you have described it, you have created questions that do not actually contain a question. Checkbox is unaware that the HTML items are associated with the answerable items. You may be able to use the alias field to add some context to your questions during reporting but I think the best option would be to look into changing the survey design if possible.

Ok, I see that I can put HTML in the Question Text and Subtext, but the people that are creating the surveys may or may not know the appropriate HTML codes.

I would like to make the suggestion that the User be given the option of entering the Question Text or Subtext in Text or WYSIWYG mode like the HTML template (this gives the user a formatting bar like the one above).

A secondary reason I am asking that this function be added is that, there was a different survey tool that was suggested to us that had similar features, but required the knowledge of HTML to format the questions.

If it is a possibility I still believe the best option is to use the style manager. Admittedly this may not be an option depending on what you are trying to do. You will be able to control the font, size and style of the text.

In our next release of Checkbox, version 4.5, the standard text box entries for question text have been replaced with WYSIWYG HTML/text editors.

Please note that if you use HTML in your question text you may want to include alias text as well, as the raw HTML will be included when exporting the data otherwise.

So noted on the HTML/alias use. We are using the alias for our internal reports, but using the HTML for display and response summary and emailing.

Any target date for the release of 4.5?

At this time we do not have a release date for Checkbox 4.5.
