Default Upgrading from 4.2 to 4.3

The documentation talks about using an upgrade process, but this seems to be designed for upgrades from 3.x to 4.x. If you are moving from 4.2 to 4.3, is there any database upgrades that need to be performed?

We noticed in our development environment, we started fresh with a new SQL database in version 4.3 and after logging in, it says "Checkbox® v4.3 - Web Survey Software -- Copyright ©2007, Prezza Technologies, Inc."

We then compared the web.config files and didn't see anything different in 4.2 and 4.3, so we tried placing the 4.3 code in a 4.2 pilot site. On the 4.3 site using the 4.2 database, after logging in, we see: "Checkbox® v4.2 - Web Survey Software -- Copyright ©2007, Prezza Technologies, Inc."

We assume this is being pulled from the Checkbox database. So back to the original question, is there anything we need to do in our Checkbox database to upgrade it from 4.2 to 4.3?

Thank you,
Kevin

Default Multi-Language Module Upgrade

We also noticed on our 4.2 database version, when we go to the installed modules, it lists Multi-Language as installed with the 4.2.0 version.

It is definately the 4.3 code though.

Is Checkbox pulling the Multi-Language module version number from the Checkbox SQL database?

Thank you,
Kevin

You are correct the upgrade instructions cover upgrading from Ultimate Survey to Checkbox. For instructions on patching an existing Checkbox installation to the current Checkbox version please follow the patch instructions which are located in <Checkbox Root>\Install\Patches\Checkbox 4.3\PatchInstructions.pdf

The location of this file will be slightly different depending on the version number of Checkbox but this is outlined in the ReadMe.htm file which is located in Checkbox Root.

Your 4.2 database contains all of your data. If you have created any surveys or collected any responses this information will be lost if you proceed in the manor you have describe.

Default Patching from 4.2 to 4.3

We found the documentation for patching from 4.2 to 4.3. We followed the process and that seems to have resolved our main concerns.

It appears that some SQL work was done during the patch.

We continued to following the patching instructions, but when we got to the multi-language patch, Checkbox does not list a multi-language patch. When we go to installed modules, multi-language 4.2 is listed. When we go to the patches page it says we are running 4.3 but not patches are found. In the patches directory there is a "Multi-language 4.3" folder.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Kevin

It would be nice if all the Checkbox documentation was centralized in one location.

I copied the file to the \bin\ folder. Checkbox still does not list any multi-language patches and it still says the module ver4.2 is installed.

Thank you,
Kevin

At this point I would suggest you contact the Prezza Support team. They can be reached by phone at +1 617-715-9600 or you can submit an online ticket from the customer area of our website.

Default Multi-Language Module Upgrade

Kevin,

Did you get a resolution to or information on this?

I've done a 4.4 installation, and the module version in the module list displays the version as 4.2. The DLL properties in the bin directory shows version 4.4.

Not a huge issue, but if the numbers are supposed to be in sync, it'd be nice if they were.

As of version 4.4, there is a disconnect in the module version number displayed on that screen since the ML module is actually no longer a separate module. It has been incorporated into the base product so the module version will no longer be updated when Checkbox is patched to newer versions.
